Tokyo Highland Games 2011

October 5th, 2011

Hi all,

David Henderson of D2 Percussion recently went to Tokyo to teach the Tokyo Pipe Band and also to adjudicate the 2011 Tokyo Highland Games.  This annual event is now in its 29th year and was a huge success with over 1500 spectators attending.  Not bad at all for a Scottish Highland Games in Japan!  The event offers events in Scottish Highland Dancing, Scottish Country Dancing, Piping, Drumming and Heavy Events.  Spectators can also get the opportunity to try many of these events along with visiting stalls from local Scottish, Irish and English shops/bars/restaurants.  Below are some photos from the day and some tourist photos which some of you might find interesting!

Well done to all involved on a successful games and here’s to a 30th year landmark next year!
